Book Circulation

Each year the convenors choose a dozen or so interesting, enjoyable and possibly thought-provoking books in a variety of subjects and styles from among those published in the previous 12 or 13 months.  Members pay an annual book purchase fee (currently $35), and on the first Monday in October, they receive their first book.  The books circulate approximately monthly for the balance of the year.  The following October, a draw is held to allow each member to choose a book to keep.

If you don’t like the commitment of attending monthly meetings, and prefer reading books to talking about them, this may be the book group for you!  Lots of reading, no meetings, and discussion strictly optional, usually taking place on front porches. Examples of our recent choices are Niall Williams’ Time of the Child, Allam Hollinghurst’s  Our Evenings, and Robert Macfarlane’s Is a River Alive, all from the 2025-2026 list.

New members are very, very welcome, but as the number of members we have determines the number of books we can buy, registration must close by Sept. 9, 2026 to provide time for them to be ordered and shipped.  Please contact Helen Spencer helen@rhspencer.ca or Gwyneth Westwick gwynethwestwick@gmail.com
